Mark Hoppus x Fall Out Boy

Mark Hopus did a remix of Fall Out Boy's "America's Suitehearts" and yet I think he made a decent song great. The chorus is awesome and really gives the song another feeling.

The moments before Blink 182 announced their reunion

Mark blogged about it:
It was a completely amazing and hectic night, and to be honest, we almost didn’t make it.

Five minutes before we were supposed to go on, Tom still wasn’t there. The car that had been arranged to bring him to the show never showed up. And backstage, people were starting to freak. “Alright, blink-182 please follow me to the stage.” “We can’t yet. Tom isn’t here.” “Where is he?” “He’s not here.” “Is he in the building?” “I don’t think so.” “Do you know where he is?” “Last I heard he was walking here from his hotel.” “He’s walking to the Staples Center from his hotel? Does he know where he’s going?” “I doubt it, he’s not from here…” (in the background) “Wait wait wait, if you’re headed toward the convention center, you’re going the WRONG WAY. You need to turn around…” The kind of thing that the producers of the Grammy’s really don’t want to hear five minutes before you’re supposed to be on the air for a live broadcast watched by tens of millions of people.

But then, just as those in charge were about to pull us from the show, Tom walked in and they rushed us off to a small crowded room backstage. People yelled about getting us into place. Our manager took a photo. Jason Mraz introduced himself and said congratulations. We stood backstage for a minute while the Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder played. Then time slowed down and we took just a second to realize that in the space of a few months we went from three guys never speaking, to moments away from walking onstage for the first time together in four years. To announce the continuation of the band we spent more than a decade touring and recording in. In front of millions of people. The moment was poignant and exciting and scary and then all of a sudden someone says, “GO GO GO!!!” and we walk out.

Only thing is, we can’t hear anything because of the music and crowd. Some people are cheering. Some people are looking at us like we’re there to move the stage sets. But there is no podium. None. Nothing. Nowhere to stand. No podium. No desk. No beautiful model motioning us where to go. No tape-marked “X” marking the spot. Just an open stage and whole lot of people watching us. I walk out first and have NO CLUE where we’re supposed to be. I look helplessly at a cameraman. His camera has a red light on it. We’re live on TV. Damn this is a big arena. Where the hell are we supposed to go?!?! Whoa, I just saw Diddy!! I wander around aimlessly for a few seconds before nearly walking directly into the microphone rising up out of the floor. I almost put an end to that thing. Seriously. Deep breath.

We start talking and coldplay wins the award and it’s over.

Just like that.

We leave before the show is over to have sushi and a few drinks before going out to the parties, laughing, shaking hands, meeting people, seeing old friends and whatever else people do after they present awards at the Grammy’s. It was one of the greatest nights of my life. I’m so glad blink-182 is back. I love playing music with my friends. And yeah, that night was also a little strange. The whole thing is still a little strange. We’re excited and energized and ready to get these song ideas recorded and out to the world and hit the road touring and everything else. And at the same time we’re still reconnecting as friends and musicians. It’s an amazing process. For better or worse, anyone who saw us on the Grammy’s that night saw it all happen in the 15 seconds we were on stage. I don’t know, maybe we’re the most surprised of all.

"I talk to Tom several times a week, sometimes several times a day" - Mark Hoppus

Ok honestly I never got my hopes up or believed in a Blink 182 reunion.Lately there have been developments were you maybe think that its kinda strange and pointing into that direction. But obviously Tom is really focused on Angels & Airwaves and the end of Blink wasn't something everyone of the three guys would just forget to do a reunion tour.

Now there's Marks blog post,a new merch store on blink182.com,the label on blink182.com was changed, sadly +44 is totally dead AND they're all on talking terms.
There is definately hope at this point.

Yesterday the on 9th of January MTV.com published an exclusive interview with Mark Hoppus.
Here's the link to the article!

A quick summary of the article:

- it's part 1 of a 2 part interview
- he thinks a reunion would only be possible if they become close friends again
- his friendship to Tom is starting to grow a lot lately
- he says that IF Blink were to reform it would have to be the most mind blowing, ridiculous and amazing show
- the end of the article says that he will announce something surprising about his "other" band +44 in the second part of the interview which MTV will publish on wednesday

Here's what I think: Put aside some money for an incredible reunion tour of Blink 182 in late 09 or 2010.Mark wants it so bad you can really feel it.Travis in my opinion would do it if Mark and Tom want it so it depends on Tom in my eyes.

Regarding +44:My guess is that they will either announce their breakup, the comeback of Carol Heller and Craig and Shane leaving or a new record being released really soon.

eventhough I hope for atleast the reunion tour of Blink 182 it still would suck if Angels or +44 would stop making music together.

Oh and why do I care so much about those guys?Because they made my youth what it was!

To be continued ...

Mark Hoppus on MTV's Made

This Saturday, I’ll be on the MTV show “Made,” giving someone tips on playing the bass for their band’s upcoming battle of the bands competition. Given the fact that I taught myself how to play the instrument, and have terrible technique, I’m not sure that I helped the situation any, and if for some reason their band loses, the blame can be placed squarely on my shoulders. Anyway, tune in to cheer them on and watch the triumph or defeat.

I hope a recording of the episode will show up somewhere on the internet.Should be fun to see Mark cracking some jokes.

+44 finally recording a new record?

Mark Hoppus posted two new things on his blog. The first one is a picture and the blog entry is "studio recording".

And secondly he posted a video of him recording a guitar(!) riff.He doesn't mention if it's just for another record he's producing or whatever i guess he knows that everyone would assume that it is for the new +44 record.I was surprised to see him play guitar in the studio.I've never seen him play guitar except for fun when he changed the instruments with Tom at some Blink 182 show. But I wonder where Travis,Craig and Shane are.Anyways I'm so stoked to see that finally +44 seem to start recording.I love this band so much. Here's what Mark wrote on his blog and the video.Oh and by the way I think the guitar is dope.

so yeah, here i am recording some pretty shredding guitar parts for this here bridge of that there song. i look like an idiot. BUT, in a day this song went from being a rough demo to having verse and bridge guitars doubled, chorus guitars tripled, and bridge leads doubled. tomorrow is bass…
